  • Volume 10-43, Psalm 63, 2 Samuel 17-18

https://biblehub.com/nkjv/psalms/63.htm Remember we are studying the Bible in chronological order, including the psalms that are known. We just finished the majority of the psalms that have already occurred in addition to those that were unknown, but as I stated before, we will still encounter different psalms in the future. And Psalm 63 was a psalm written by David while he was in hiding from Absalom. https://biblehub.com/nkjv/2_samuel/17.htm What follows in 2 Samuel 17 and 18 is… Continue reading

  • Volume 10-42, 2 Samuel 15-16

https://biblehub.com/nkjv/2_samuel/15.htm We’ve spent a lot of time studying the Book of Psalms, then a few chapters in the Book of Chronicles, and how we have to go back and pick up where we left off with King David. And the last we studied, Absalom had killed his brother Amnon, then Absalom fled. Joab was trying to get the family back together, so he and an old woman developed a story where the old woman went… Continue reading

  • Volume 10-41, 1 Chronicles 23-27

https://biblehub.com/nkjv/1_chronicles/23.htm David is growing old and near the sleep of death, and he makes his son Solomon the King of Israel. But before he dies, he reorganizes (my word, not God’s), the Levites. Remember, the Levites did not receive in inheritance in the land of Israel as their tribe was to minister to the people; and they received a small portion within each tribe in which to live and raise crops, etc. The job of… Continue reading

  • Volume 10-40, 1 Chronicles 22

https://biblehub.com/nkjv/1_chronicles/22.htm A radio station I used to listen to on my way to work had a short blurb each morning called “Shower Thoughts”, and it was always something that was dark humor (just like mine) or something really wacky. For example, one was “If you take a donut hole, and put it in the hole of a donut, you’ll have a whole donut.” Anyway, that just came to mind while I was reading this chapter… Continue reading

  • Volume 10-39, 1 Chronicles 21

https://biblehub.com/nkjv/1_chronicles/21.htm Just for refresher, I’m studying the books of the Bible in chronological order, the timeline of the events as most feel they transpired. The problem with the Book of Psalms, which we just finished, is that the author and the time period in which they were written is unknown, so we had to cover the majority of the book at one time, and at 150 chapters, it is the longest book in the Bible.… Continue reading

  • Volume 10-38, Psalms 147-150

https://biblehub.com/nkjv/psalms/147.htm As I read Psalm 147, there was no particular verse that stood out to me, yet the psalm in it’s entirety did. What the psalmist says strikes me as the description of a father. We know God is our Heavenly Father, but his actions and character are virtually the same as our earthly father. I understand that not everyone has a father in their life, there are too many broken homes, and I understand… Continue reading

  • Volume 10-37, Psalms 132, 134, 137, 146

https://biblehub.com/nkjv/psalms/132.htm Psalms 132 and 134 are songs of ascents, like others in this section of the Bible. Apparently the term was derived from fact that Jerusalem sits on a high hill, and the children of Israel would sing these songs as they ascended the hill to Jerusalem for one of the three annual Jewish Festivals. While many of these psalms were written by unknown authors and the event surrounding their writing is unknown, Psalm 137… Continue reading

  • Volume 10-36, Psalms 120, 121, 123, 125, 126, 128, 129, 130

https://biblehub.com/nkjv/psalms/120.htm I in now way mean to diminish the worth of the following psalms, each one is worthy because they are included in God’s Word, however these short psalms are prayers and pleas to God, praise to God, and more descriptions of the character of God, the latter of which I feel is the most important. That said, there’s not too much to commend on some of these. Psalm 120 is titled “Plea for Relief… Continue reading

  • Volume 10-35, Psalm 119

https://biblehub.com/nkjv/psalms/119.htm Confession time. I had to research to find out what Aleph meant. Then Beth, then Gimel. They are the letters of the Hebrew alphabet, and there are passages for each letter. As to why the psalmist divided the passages by letter, I have no idea. I just read the psalm, enjoy it, and search for God’s message within it. If you know why it is divided this way, fill me in. My first comment… Continue reading

  • Volume 10-34, Psalm 118

https://biblehub.com/nkjv/psalms/118.htm Well. I was planning on covering two or three psalms again today, but wow, there is so much packed into this one, it will be the only one I talk about. First, we hear the phrase “His mercy endures forever” in this and other psalms, and it is so true. It doesn’t matter how lost you are or how far you have strayed from the Lord, He is always ready to take you back… Continue reading
