I try to stay away from political posts on Facebook because, well, I believe Satan uses that platform to divide people, to set man against man. And yes, I’ve fallen victim to that before, allowing the temptation of Satan get to me. Fortunately, God has been patient and worked with me. I’ve went from participating in such mayhem, to the point that I would pound out a response, then delete it before sending it, and now when I feel my blood pressure start to rise, I just scroll on. And because there is just so much going on, I now spend very little time on social media.
But what I do see, is a lot of different views on the division in the Middle East. It started just as a war between Palestine and Israel (which of course I do not believe in Palestine, it is all Israel), but I was amazed at the number of people condemning Israel, basically for defending themselves, and supporting the Palestinians. And now there there is a war against Iran, which was Persia in biblical times, people are even supporting Iran, a theocracy based on Islam.
There then are those people who believe the wars are a sign of the end times. And yes, Jesus said “there will be wars and rumors of wars”, but if you don’t realize that Israel has been at war since the days of Abraham. And if you read the description of the “promised land”, you’ll see that the land of Israel has slowly been carved away over the centuries. Satan knows Jesus was a Jew, and he himself has waged war against Israel. If you aren’t aware of the history of Israel, you don’t know that the current battles having been taking place forever.
And in this chapter of 1 Kings, it is just another account of one such battle. This battle is the Syrians who are trying to invade Israel. And even though Ahab falls short of being a righteous man of God, God still wants to protect “Him people”, so He protects Israel from the Syrians. But then Ahab messes up. He makes a treaty with the King of Syria, and this displeases God. So God removes His protection, and leaves Ahab to himself.
Even that doesn’t convict Ahab. In the next chapter we see him basically having a tantrum because his neighbor won’t sell his vineyard to Ahab, so Ahab goes pouting to his bed. And when his wicked wife Jezebel inquires of it and is told why, she commissions the murder of the neighbor, Naboth, and gives the vineyard to Ahab.
And once again, God is displeased with Ahab, and removes His protection. Ahab has sinned, and a wrathful tyrannical God would have killed him on the spot. But that is not our God. Ahab has distanced himself from God, using his freewill, and God allows it. He gives Ahab a warning, a prophesy, and if Ahab would have repented and humbled himself, God would’ve had mercy. But instead, God knew the future, and He prophesied about the death of Ahab. Not only did He prophesy it, He sent a warning to Ahab.
I don’t know about you, but if a prophet warned me that my behavior would lead to death, I would change my ways. And even though Ahab was a believer, he still didn’t turn back to God.
Think of all the lost souls today who scoff at God, who are being given fair warning that if they separate themselves from Him, it will lead to death. And yet, they scoff. They are non-believers, and they’re not even satisfied with their unbelief, they have to cross the line and call the Bible a “fairy tale” and call God, “Skydaddy”.
I am so sorry Father for the way they treat you. It had to hurt you badly.
And thus, we are at war with Satan today. While most are concerned about the wars in the Middle East, I concern myself with the war here, the war between God and Satan, between good and evil.
I urge you to read your Bible. Have faith, it is real. There is a God, and if we just love Him, He will give us eternal life. Prophesy says that in the end when the wicked are resurrected from the grave, they will then know that Satan has lied to them, and they will be angry with Satan for his deception. But unfortunately by then, it will be too late.
I pray for each of you reading this.
