Who is Jesus?

I believe in the Holy Trinity, the Godhead made up of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. They are all distinct, yet one.

That said, Jesus has always been here. He was at creation with The Father.

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.  He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it.” – The Gospel of John, Chapter 1:1-5

The reason I like the New King James Version the best is that all Holy Names are capitalized. Since the word “Word” is capitalized, we know it is Holy, and because John specifically wrote his gospel about the life and times of Jesus Christ, we know he is talking about Jesus.

You’ll find several other references when you read about the “Angel of God”, or “Micheal the Arcangel”. No Jesus wasn’t an angel, but He was in charge of the angels, making Him an “Arcangel”.

We also know Jesus has always been by Gods word which uses plural words like “Let US make man in OUR image.” If God was alone, He wouldn’t have used plural words.

The most popular belief is that Jesus came to earth as a Man in order to save us from our sins. He came to be our Messiah, to die on the cross to give forgiveness for our sins, to be our sacrificial Lamb if you will. And that may be partly true, but I believe the biggest reason Jesus came to earth was to show us the true character of The Father.

As I’ve said in other writings, I think man has had several misconceptions about God. There is a lot of the Old Testament that talks about God’s anger, His wrath, His desire to destroy us. I personally believe those were all misrepresentations, although unintentional, about our God. And I think God and Jesus were in Heaven listening, and Jesus said, “Do you think they’ll ever discover the real You?” And God said, “Probably not. You’re going to have to go down there and show them.”

Remember, when the Pharisees brought the prostitute to Jesus, they knew He would stone her to death. That is what the teachings were, the God punishes sinners with death. But Jesus didn’t stone the prostitute, instead He was loving to her, and forgave her of her sins. God would have done the exact same thing. And instead of changing their minds about God, the Pharisees were certain that Jesus’ merciful behavior surely meant He was not the Son of God.

And even though Jesus showed us, we still believe the myths. It was as if the Pharisees were alive and preaching to us today. Fear God! Obey God or He will send you to hell to burn forever! Bad things happen because God is angry with us! And to that I say, “Bovine Feces!”

Seek the true God! Learn to love the merciful God that loves us! Read between the lines. Look at all of the examples in the Bible of people that committed grave sins, but God was merciful to them.
