More prophesy…that is what prophets do, warn people of the future. That is why God sends them, to remind us of how to live, and the consequences of our own actions.
Once again, we have a chapter that speaks detriment to the character of God. We should “fear” Him, we should “dread” Him, and I don’t believe it for one second. I cannot forget the words of Jesus…”If you’ve seen Me, you’ve seen the Father…” God has the exact same characteristics as Jesus, and we know what those are because they were documented by four different individuals.
Why does the Bible used such language? Much of it is lost in translation, some that we have narrow minds and when we read a word, we perceive that it can mean only one thing, and the last, based on my opinion only, the mindset of the authors misconstrued how they looked at God.
God has rules, rules that are for our own good. If you examine the rules, you can pretty much guarantee the basis for the rule is for our own happiness and health. We can choose to follow them, or we can choose to ignore them and suffer the consequences.
I like my Father in Heaven to my earthly father. My earthly father had rules he wanted me to observe to ensure all was well with me. As long as I stayed in the yard, close to him, all was okay, he could protect me. But if I opened the gate and left the yard, distanced myself from him, he could no longer protect me. I had ventured out into the world, away from him, and away from his protection.
The same is for our Heavenly Father. If we stay close to Him, if we observe the rules of health and happiness He has set forth for us, we are protected and live happy lives, but if we leave Him, stray from Him, open the gate and leave his “yard”, then we put ourselves in danger. God’s rules are to restrict us or to oppress us, they ae to protect us, because He loves us more than our tiny brains can begin to fathom.
Next subject…have you ever associated the story of the Witch of Endor, with the name of Samantha Stevens mother on the TV Show “Bewitched”? Her mothers name was Endora…obviously well thought out by the writers of the show.
One of God’s rules to protect us is to stay away from seers and witches. The rule was enforced by King Saul, and also broken by King Saul when he sought the services of the Witch of Endor. Instead of turning to God for guidance, Saul went to the Witch of Endor to conduct a seance and conjure up the spirit of the dead Samuel. And of course a spirit appeared, but it wasn’t Samuel. It was an evil spirit conjured up by Satan.
Not to rehash the story of the Witch of Endor, but in this chapter of Isaiah, he reminds us to stay away from the counsel of seers who pretend they can summon up the dead. As scripture says, “The dead know nothing.”
I have started a YouTube Channel to create some short reels and perhaps some videos in the future. The link can be found in the column to the right. If you want to like, subscribe, and request notifications, you’ll know when I post a new reel.
God bless everyone. In Jesus’ name, Amen!
