#367: Isaiah 10

How much more love can God show, and how much more can we ignore it? What everyone perceives as threat from an angry God, I perceive as warnings from a Father to a child.

Your earthly father says, “Don’t run into the street”, “Stay away from the wasp nest”, “Don’t stick things in the electrical outlet”, and our Heavenly Father says, “Don’t decree unrighteous things”, “Don’t perform misjustice”, “Don’t rob the poor”.

He is doing this for our own good, because He knows that if we separate ourselves from Him, we will perish. We will not be able to withstand His Glory.

“So when Aaron and all the children of Israel saw Moses, behold, the skin of his face shone, and they were afraid to come near him.” – Exodus 34:30

God does not want us to be afraid to come near to Him, but He also knows that if we separate ourselves from Him we will not be able to withstand His Glory.

Verse 4: “Without Me they shall bow down among the prisoners,
And they shall fall among the slain.”
Again, this isn’t a threat, far from it, it is simply a warning saying, “If you leave My side, I can no longer protect you.”

“For all this His anger is not turned away, But His hand is stretched out still.” I don’t have an answer for the word “anger” other than it is a simple misconception, but I know God isn’t an “angry” God because Jesus wasn’t.

And the most important part of this verse, “But His hand is stretched out still.” No matter how far we run from God, we could be running into the face of danger, like the children of Israel running towards defeat from the Assyrians, we can turn back and look at Him, and His welcoming hand is saying, “Come back! Come back to your Father!”

What a wonderful promise that is! What a wonderful God we have! We can turn our backs on Him, we can insult Him, we can take His name in vain, we can disobey all of the things He has warned us against, and still, we can return to Him at anytime and He will welcome us back. His hand is always stretched out towards us!

And all God’s people said, “Amen!”
