#398: Isaiah 59-65

“But your iniquities have separated you from your God;
And your sins have hidden His face from you.”

The Lord impressed this on me earlier this year, and now I’ve found it in black and white. The only thing I disagree with Isaiah on is that God never hides His face from us; it is us that hides our face from Him.

Paul says sin is transgression of the law, but I also say that separating yourself from God leads also to sin. Again I used the example of a child playing in a fenced in front yard. As long as the child stays in the yard, close to his mother and father, all will be well; mom and dad can provide protection. But if that child opens the gate and wanders off, now the child is victim of the cruel world where temptation abounds. Stay close to God, stay safe and happy. Stray from God, Satan can snatch you.

Stay close to God. Make sure He is ever present in your thoughts. Talk with Him frequently throughout the day. Start with a morning conversation, ask for His guidance in your actions as the day progresses, thank Him for the blessings He provides; as an older person, I’ve stopped after a shower just to thank Him for His protection from falling; the more you acknowledge His blessings, the more He is happy to bless you.

Study the Bible every day. There is a FB page called “The Undusted Bible”. Make sure no dust accumulates on your Bible; open it often. And with technological advances, you can have a digital copy of the Bible on your phone so you can study it anywhere and at any time. There are also audio books of the Bible, so if you’re not into reading, listen to the Bible.

Just have a relationship with God the same as you would with a close friend you talk to every day. Make Him your best friend, and you will learn to love Him, truly be in love with Him.

In Chapter 60 we read where “The Gentiles Bless Zion” and it talks about gentiles coming to Jerusalem from near and far. This has two meanings to me. First, after Christ came to earth, gentiles started following Him, gentiles that did not observe the God of Israel, and Christianity formed…those who follow Christ. And if you follow Christ, you inherently follow God.

The second meaning though is prophesy regarding the end. As we will study in the future, in the end a New Jerusalem will come down from Heaven and locate in Israel. At that time, God will live with His followers. The new earth will be illuminated by the Glory of God, there will be no need for the sun. And that is referred to here. Again, you can’t just read the Bible once and have full understanding, you have to reread the Bible to understand the prophesies that are mentioned in the Old Testament.

In Chapter 65, pay close attention to Verse 17 through the end of the chapter. It is more prophesy concerning what life will be like after God cleanses the earth again. The first time was by flood, in my opinion it was not a flood sent by God but rather the natural consequences of sin. God would have saved more than Noah and his family had they repented, but by then, the entire world was wicked. The second time, and this is my opinion only, the wicked will be consumed by the Glory of God, which is perceived as fire, and they are consumed because they have not made themselves righteous enough to withstand It. And His Glory will cleanse the earth, and all will be anew like the Garden of Eden and as God originally intended for it to be.

By the way…Happy Sabbath!
