#390: Isaiah 41-42

Isaiah 42: 5 “Thus says God the Lord, Who created the heavens and stretched them out, Who spread forth the earth and that which comes from it, Who gives breath to the people on it, And spirit to those who walk on it:

“I, the Lord, have called You in righteousness, And will hold Your hand; I will keep You and give You as a covenant to the people,
As a light to the Gentiles, To open blind eyes, To bring out prisoners from the prison, Those who sit in darkness from the prison house.

I am the Lord, that is My name; And My glory I will not give to another, Nor My praise to carved images. Behold, the former things have come to pass, And new things I declare; Before they spring forth I tell you of them.”

One of the reasons I prefer the New King James Version is because names that are Holy, are indicated by a capitalized first letter. For example, if we see the word “angel”, we’re talking about one of the angels in Heaven; but if we see the word “Angel”, capitalized, we know the name is Holy and it is referring to the Archangel, the head of the angels, Michael, or Jesus, or whatever other name is taken at that time. So in this passage, we see God talking to another Holy name.

“I, the Lord, have called You in righteousness, And will hold Your hand; I will keep You and give You as a covenant to the people.”

Who is this “You” and “Your” God is speaking about? Jesus.

I’ll be the first to confess again, I have trouble understanding Isaiah because much of the scripture is poetic and over my head. But I still love Isaiah and the book he wrote because there is a lot of prophesy about the coming birth of Jesus. And Jesus, the mortal man who walked the earth, was just God personified. One thing that is unclear to me, and I hope I can find out on my latest read of the Bible, is whether or not the Holy Spirit descended into the infant Jesus in the womb, or after birth, or perhaps even at the point of His baptism. I hope to discover. Regardless, God the Father, in the role of His Son Jesus, came to earth, and this passage points to that, prophesies about it.

“I have called You in righteousness” – God was sending the only perfect and sinless man to walk the earth.

“I will hold Your hand” – God will be with Jesus as He walks the earth. And I contemplate everything, using common sense, and trying to make heads or tails out of it all, I question this. Did Jesus in His power as God, as one part of the Triune, have the power to heal, or was He so perfect that He had the faith that He could heal, faith that we ultimately cannot achieve. Hmmmmm. Something else to contemplate.

“I will keep You and give You as a covenant”. God made many covenants; He made one with Adam, one with Abraham, one with David, but the primary covenant was The Ten Commandments. He promised everyone a happy and peaceful life if they obeyed those commandments, and I hate the word “obey”, I prefer “observe”.

But man didn’t keep his end of the covenant. The tablets were locked away for safekeeping inside the Ark of the Covenant, which at sometime has been hidden or disappeared, and man forgot loving and observing God’s natural practices to a healthy life. So He send Jesus to earth to show us how to live; to love, to be kind, to be forgiving of one another. That is the new covenant, it’s the same as the old, only Jesus told us to store it away in our hearts so we would not forget.

It saddens me to hear others say that “Jesus completed the law”, and the law is no longer valid. And it angers me that The Church, Inc. is still teaching that. The Church has been infiltrated by Satan, and just like the lie he tempted Eve with, he is lying to us today and tempting us throughout the church.

In order to know the God that made man, we have to forget the God that man made.

Blessings to all.
