I am perplexed. Very perplexed. So perplexed in fact that I have to take a break to think and pray, a lot.

I absolutely and unequivocally mistrust Satan. He is smarter than I am. He is more sly. He is trickier. I believe he has the ability to attack me from under the radar. My only protection from Satan is God Almighty, and I pray that His Spirit convicts me before I yield to temptation.

Right now, I’m have some deep, deep questions about our Holy Bible. I’ve learned to distrust it already, and when I study it, I approach it with a truck load of common sense.

Here is my trigger for today.

I’ve always believed that the New Covenant is the same as the Old Covenant, the only difference being that God wrote them on stone, and Jesus writes them in our hearts and minds. And there is a scripture where Jesus tells us this.

As I was searching for that scripture, I came across a passage from Paul. I confess, Paul is not my favorite writer. In fact, I’ve found Paul to be quite boring and quite repetitive. It seems to me that he wrote a letter to the Hebrews, then when he wrote a letter to the Phillipians, he simply scratched out the word “Hebrews” and inserted “Phillipians”, or “Galations”, or “Romans”. What I’m meaning to say is, it seems as the letters Paul wrote are all the same, just sent to different churches.

Anyway, Paul was writing that the New Covenant made the Old Covenant obsolete. What? Obsolete?

If the New Covenant replaced the old, to me, that means God made a mistake and had to retract the Old Covenant and issue a new one.

I don’t believe God makes mistakes.

God is perfect. God is infallible. I do not believe, for one second, that the Old Covenant is obsolete, that it was a mistake of God. In fact, God made a covenant with Adam, and with Abraham, and with Isaac, and Jacob, and Noah; God has made several covenants, but none replaced anything. No where do we see where the covenant He made with Noah replaced the covenant He made with Adam, or the covenant He made with Abraham replaced the covenant He made with Noah. So why would God create a New Covenant to replace the Old.

If you follow me, you know I have problems with the Holy Bible. It has contradictions that don’t make sense, for example, God commanded that Achan be taken outside the camp and stoned to death for theft, but He forgave David for adultery and murder. Uzziah reported died from just touching the Ark of the Covenant, yet the Philistines had it in their possession and only broke out in sores and boils. And now that I mention that, scripture calls it the Ark of “The” Covenant, not an Ark of “A” Covenant.

The Bible has also been altered by man. The apocrypha, I discovered, was partly omitted from the Bible because it made the Bible too bulky and increased the printing costs. How much more of the Bible has been omitted because of the almighty dollar or because it was too heavy? And I found out that the writings of Paul were included in the Bible, not so much because they thought they were inspired, but rather because they started reading them in the early Christian Church, and simply decided that by default, they would include them in the Bible.

But what about Paul indicating that God went back on His original covenant. That doesn’t sound like my God. My God is perfect. He wouldn’t make a mistake on the Old Covenant, then have to replace it down the road.

As such, I have to pray a lot and seek answers from God. I have no doubt Satan has had his fingerprints all over the Bible, I just want to be sure that what I’m reading is truly the word of God, and not something man decided he wanted or didn’t want in the Bible. I see man everyday compromising the word of God in church, so I know it can be done.
